Not Just for Boats Anymore
Performance decking earned its reputation on boat decks — cushioned, laser-cut EVA foam pads that grip when wet, feel great barefoot, and stay comfortable in sun that turns bare fiberglass into a stovetop. But here’s what most people haven’t caught up to yet: the same material belongs on everything you stand on, kneel on, step on, or sit on. Jet skis, side-by-sides, golf carts, RV steps, trailer fenders, cooler lids — if it lives outside in this valley, decking makes it cooler, grippier, and a whole lot more comfortable.
At Rapid Wraps and Tint, we template, cut, and install custom performance decking for all of it — fitted to your exact surfaces, in your colors, with designs and logos etched right in.
What Performance Decking Actually Is
It’s closed-cell EVA foam — dense, UV-resistant, and non-absorbent, so it never soaks up water or funk. Each piece is templated to your exact surface, precision-cut with clean edges and cutouts around every hatch, cleat, and pedal, and bonded down with marine-grade peel-and-stick adhesive over a properly prepped surface. The texture grips wet or dry, the foam cushions every step, and it runs noticeably cooler underfoot than fiberglass or aluminum baking in direct sun. It also comes in layered colors that can be laser-etched — faux teak lines, patterns, names, logos — so the practical upgrade doubles as a custom one.
Where We Put It
Everywhere the sun and your feet meet. Here’s the lineup — and it’s longer than you’d think.
Boats & Pontoons
The classics: casting decks that stay cool and quiet (DVL anglers, this one’s yours), cockpit floors, bow areas, and gunwale pads for leaning into a fight. On pontoons, entry gates, helm areas, and high-traffic walkways get the same treatment.
Swim Platforms, Helm Pads & Steps
The three hottest, slipperiest spots in the fleet. Swim platforms go from scorching to barefoot-friendly, helm pads take the fatigue out of standing all day, and steps — boat, trailer, or RV — get grip exactly where wet feet need it most.
Jet Skis & PWCs
Factory traction mats wear slick and peel with age. We strip them, clean off the old adhesive, and install fresh custom-cut footwell and boarding pads — better grip than new, in whatever colors and patterns you want.
UTVs, Side-by-Sides & Golf Carts
Decking on UTV floorboards and rockers means grip for dusty boots and comfort on washboard roads — and it hoses out like it was made for the desert, because it was. And for the golf cart crowd from Seven Hills to Sierra Dawn: custom floor and rocker decking is the fastest way to make your cart the best-looking one on the course.
RVs & Trailers
Every RV owner knows the slick entry-step shuffle — decking fixes it with grip and cushion right where you climb aboard. On trailers, we pad the spots you actually use: fender step-ups, tongue steps, and walk boards, so loading the boat doesn’t involve a balance beam.
Coolers & Custom Projects
A decked cooler lid is a seat cushion, a casting platform, and lid protection in one — with your name or logo etched in. And “custom” means it: truck tailgates, garage steps, gun boxes, dog platforms — if you stand on it, kneel on it, or set a drink on it, bring it in and we’ll template it.
Straight Talk on Decking
Fit is the product. Universal stick-on sheets are what decking looks like when it’s done wrong. We template your actual surfaces — every curve, hatch, and hardware cutout — so the finished pads look factory and stay put at the edges.
Prep decides adhesion. The peel-and-stick bond is only as good as what’s under it. Old mats and adhesive come off completely, surfaces get cleaned and degreased, and then the new decking goes down for keeps.
Custom is half the fun. Two-layer material laser-etches beautifully — faux teak, patterns, boat names, and sponsor logos for tournament rigs that want the deck to match the wrap. [Link to the boat wraps page.]
Honest care notes. Cleanup is soap and water. Wipe up sunscreen and spills before they sit — they can stain foam left long enough. And while it shrugs off daily abuse, it’s not armor: a dropped gaff or determined dog claw can nick it. The fix is replacing one pad, not the whole deck.
Performance Decking - Frequently asked questions
Is this just for boats?
Not even close — that's just where it started. Boats, pontoons, jet skis, UTVs, golf carts, RV steps, trailers, coolers, swim platforms, helm pads — if you stand on it or sit on it outdoors, it's a candidate. Custom projects welcome.
How much cooler is it than bare fiberglass?
Enough that barefoot July becomes normal instead of brave. EVA foam doesn't bank heat the way fiberglass and aluminum do — and one honest tip: lighter top colors run cooler than dark ones on surfaces that live in full sun, and we'll help you pick accordingly.
Will it actually stay stuck?
Yes — when the prep is right, and that's the part we don't shortcut. Old material and adhesive off, surface cleaned and degreased, marine-grade pressure adhesive down. That bond handles sun, water, and years of feet.
Can I get custom designs and logos?
That's the best part. Layered material laser-etches with names, logos, patterns, and faux teak lines — and tournament guys regularly match their deck to their wrap, sponsor marks included.
My jet ski's factory mats are peeling. Can you replace them?
All day. We remove the worn mats, clean every trace of old adhesive, and install custom-cut pads that grip better than the originals ever did — in stock looks or something all your own.
How do I clean it, and does it stain?
Soap and water covers routine cleanup. Wipe sunscreen, fish blood, and spilled drinks up promptly — left to bake, they can stain the foam. If a pad ever gets nicked or stained past saving, we replace that pad, not the whole job.
