SERVING SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SINCE 2017
For nearly a decade, drivers and businesses across Southern California have trusted us with their vehicles, boats, homes, and storefronts. We’ve built our reputation one job at a time — but don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what our customers have to say.
Fix the Chip Before the Heat Finds It
Every Hemet driver knows the sound: the crack of a rock off a gravel truck on the 74 or the 79, and the little star it leaves behind. Here’s what the valley teaches you next: chips don’t wait around here. Summer glass temperatures plus cold AC blasting the inside of the windshield is exactly the stress that sends a quarter-sized chip running across your view — often in a single afternoon.
At Rapid Wraps and Tint, we handle the whole timeline: fast resin repairs that stop chips before they spread, full windshield and glass replacement when it’s past saving, and in-house ADAS calibration so camera-equipped windshields leave here seeing straight — one shop, one visit.
Repair or Replace? The Honest Framework
Most chips can be saved if you move quickly. A repair is usually on the table when the chip is about quarter-sized or smaller, the crack is short, the damage sits away from the windshield’s edge, it hasn’t penetrated the inner layer, and it’s out of the driver’s primary line of sight (repairs leave a faint mark, and that mark doesn’t belong directly in your view). Edge cracks, long runners, and damage that’s been packed with dirt and moisture for months usually mean replacement — the structure’s already compromised.
The repair itself is quick: the break is cleaned, resin is injected under vacuum into the damage, cured with UV light, and polished. It stops the spread, restores strength, and clears most of the blemish. In this climate, the math is simple — a repairable chip today is a full replacement by the weekend. Send us a photo and we’ll tell you straight which side of the line you’re on.
Our Auto Glass Services
From a star chip to a shattered door window, here’s what we handle.
Rock Chip & Crack Repair
Fast resin repairs that stop damage in its tracks — usually done while you wait. Bonus worth knowing: many insurance policies cover chip repair with no deductible at all, because your insurer would much rather pay for a repair than a windshield.
Windshield Replacement
When the glass is done, the replacement is only as good as what you can’t see: old urethane trimmed correctly, the pinch weld inspected and primed, quality glass set in fresh urethane, moldings and clips replaced instead of reused broken. We’ll also give you the exact safe drive-away time for the adhesive used — modern urethanes can be ready in about an hour, and guessing isn’t how that gets decided.
ADAS Calibration — In-House, Same Visit
If your windshield carries a camera behind the mirror, replacement isn’t finished until that camera is recalibrated — manufacturer procedures require it. Most glass services send you elsewhere for that step. We do it in-house, same visit, with documentation.
Door, Rear & Quarter Glass
Side and rear glass is tempered — built to shatter into pellets, which means it can’t be repaired, only replaced. We replace the glass, vacuum the door cavity and tracks, check the regulator, and match everything up — including rear defroster function on back glass. If the old glass was tinted, we’ll retint the new piece to match the rest of the car.
Straight Talk on Windshields
Your windshield is structural. It’s laminated — two layers of glass bonded to a plastic interlayer — which is why it cracks instead of shattering. It also does real work: on many vehicles it helps support the roof in a rollover and gives the passenger airbag something to deploy against. That’s why installation quality isn’t a cosmetic question.
Heat is the enemy of a chip. Glass expands in the sun and contracts under your AC, and every cycle works the crack a little further. A chip that would sit quietly for a month on the coast runs in days here. Until you can get in: a piece of clear tape over the chip keeps dirt and moisture out and keeps it repairable.
The factory seal is worth keeping. Your original windshield was installed once, at the factory, under ideal conditions — which is the best argument for repairing instead of replacing whenever the damage allows. When replacement is the call, the prep and adhesive work underneath the glass is what you’re really paying for.
Calibration isn’t optional on camera cars. A new windshield with an uncalibrated camera is a safety system aimed by hope. It’s why we built calibration into the same visit instead of making it your problem.
AUTO GLASS - Frequently asked questions
Can my chip be repaired, or do I need a new windshield?
If it's about quarter-sized or smaller, short, away from the edge, and out of your direct line of sight — very likely repairable. Edge cracks and long runners usually mean replacement. Text us a photo and you'll have an honest answer in minutes.
How long can I wait to fix a chip?
Around here? Days, not weeks. Valley heat and AC cycling spread chips fast, and once it runs, repair is off the table. Put clear tape over it to keep dirt and moisture out, park in shade if you can, and get it in.
Will the repair be invisible?
Mostly, not perfectly. A good repair clears the majority of the blemish and — more importantly — restores strength and stops the spread. It's a structural fix first and a cosmetic one second, which is also why we don't repair damage sitting directly in the driver's view.
Do I need calibration with my new windshield?
If there's a camera mounted to the glass, yes — manufacturer procedures require recalibration after replacement. We do it in-house the same visit, so you leave finished instead of with a second appointment somewhere else.
How soon can I drive after a replacement?
When the urethane says so. Modern adhesives can reach safe drive-away in about an hour, but the exact time depends on the product used — we'll give you the specific time for your install, not a guess.
Will insurance cover my glass?
Chip repairs are often covered with no deductible under many policies, and replacements typically go through comprehensive coverage with your deductible. We'll help with the claim and provide full documentation, calibration included.
